... very often I hear the question: "What is it KOMI-KON? So strange word..." KOMI-KON means COMIC CONSTANCY, and it's the main thing, that defines art of this group. It's playful, funny, bright and polystilistic, without any rules and conventions. It's so need for our gray and official world.

The group KOMI-KON was organised in 1987 by artist and photographer Konstantin Goretsky. Konstantin Goretsky was born on the Kuril Islands (Russia) in 1961. The experience he received on the Malaya Gruzinskaya Str. 26, in the centre of artists - nonconformists (the unique independent art centre in the Moscow, USSR) had vital importance in his formation as artist. Since 1986, he took part in numerous exhibitions in Russia, Belarus, and abroad. The group KOMI-KON, headed by Konstantin Goretsky, carried out the following art projects:

1. The Cruiser AVRORA is the Goddess of Dawn - 1987 - 98
2. Plan of evacuation - 1989 - 91
3. Art-musical salon ON THE GARRET - 1996 - 98
4. LIVING IS HARMFUL! 1999 - 2004

New life was brought to KOMI-KON started with the arrival of Alena Boika. Her collaboration with the group began in 1996 from her work as photomodel on some art projects. Since 2001, she has worked as public relations manager for KOMI-KON. She created the website KARTINKI http://kartinki.iatp.by and established international relations with foreign artists and institutions. The most recent events prepared and realized by her are

- in August 2004 the presentation showing the art activity of KOMI-KON, at the Forum 2004, World Youth Festival (August 8 14 2004) - Barcelona, Spain; and in

October 2004 the presentation of the project "Living is harmful!" (7 posters) at the World Youth Biennial Identity-Code-Perception- Meta-Violence - Convention-Expression - UNA Gallery, Bucharest, Romania

Now, the staff at KOMI-KON is ever-changing, depending upon the needs and artistic goals for particular and varied projects. The group is open to collaboration, and welcomes any ideas and creative initiatives from artists embracing cosmopolitan views from all over the world.
